Solos and weather

Well, in true Wyoming fashion, the group had to hunker down yesterday as they had a white out and woke up to snow covering everything and temperatures in the 20's.  But the group has been managing just fine.

One of the main components that happens during the solo time, is that we have students read two chapters from Brennan Mannings "Abba's Child" entitled 'Imposter' and 'Beloved'.  These chapters can be pretty transformational for students in how they perceive themselves and their relationship with God.  Here is a student reflection from their solo experience:

“In my reading of The Beloved, I was very called out.  In a desire to deserve love and knowledge of who I am or who I’m supposed to be, I rejected the truth entirely.  I am beloved and this is true because of my weakness, my every area that’s lacking, because I was loved, created, and enjoyed by God that Jesus died for ME.  My rush, my busyness, my imposter, my portrayed self has fully deterred my experience as just an ordinary person!  We were meant to be ordinary people.  My idea of being known and loved kept my fig leaves on (Garden of Eden reference).  There are parts of myself that I have not accepted and am unsure of how to name, but I am able to be loved without restraint.  The idea of worth being used to determine God’s love is ridiculous.  As it says in the text- my worth is not in things.  I am not my family, my grades, my leadership, my service, my ideas, I am nothing but beloved.  That is enough. I hope to keep reflecting through both this passage and the previous to allow access to God and His calling for me as beloved.”
