Petroglyph tour and heading in
The group started yesterday off with a day hike that included a tour of some of the largest concentrations of petroglyphs in the state of Wyoming. Guided by a local artist and historian, the group visited several areas where they were able to view art left by the Sheepeater Native Americans (a branch of the Shoshone Tribe). It's important for the group to understand the history and culture of the area that they will be in for the next 5 weeks.

After the tour, they headed back to their campsite where they started getting their gear ready to head into the field this morning. As they were packing up, a snow storm rolled in! Yes...you read that right...a snow storm! Welcome to Wyoming weather!
Today they will be heading into their first campsite in the field, continuing to acclimate to the altitude, trying out their backpacking legs, and fine tuning their packs before they make the big push into the backcountry.
