Trekking the Andes
Today is Wednesday, which means that the group has made it to Machu Picchu! It's their 17th day in-country, can you believe it?! What an adventure they are having!
Here is an update from one of their trek days...it's pretty photo heavy, so just keep scrolling!
Day 3 of the trek was sunny and most of the day was downhill. The group sees a lot of dogs along the way (cover photo). Good hiking socks have helped them enjoy the beautiful sites...through the mountains and upper jungle.

The type of trek that the group does includes local guides that not only help carry the groups gear, but also cooks for them. Juancito and his brother have been the chefs for the group this year. The fun fact about this, is that Juancito was our chef on our very first trip to Peru in 2011! He loves Jesus and has a servants heart, what a blessing to have him with our group this year!

(Plus, look at that food!)
The group eventually made it to a coffee plantation run by a Christian husband and wife. They also help local women develop skills to earn an income. They pick the beans from the plants, then dehusk them, dry them, roast them, grind them, and the group drank the results! They enjoyed walking through the whole process and even helping!

After the day's hike, the group stayed at a small campground that has a resident parrot who likes to sit on shoulders.....and also steal food!

The group ended the day with a long-awaited time at the Santa Teresa Hot Springs. For 3 1/2 hours the group swam, rested, floated, and played games...ending their time with a 'Hot Seat'. The whole evening was a true gift from the Lord.
They found restoration and connection and then returned to the campground for an extra long night of sleeping. God has been so generous to them, especially after the grueling day they had hiking over the mountain pass in the rain.
