Sunday's update
Greetings.
Buenos Dias!
Today was a much needed sabbath day, so we took a brief rest from the activities, adventures, and work that have filled our days over the last week. While the work we have been doing has been impactful and fulfilling, we have all been feeling a deep need for rest. Through the day, some of us took time to catch up on sleep, while others pursed other methods of self care.
For Ian, this time was really wonderful as it allowed for a lot more time in God's word and in prayer. For Asaad, this came in the form of journaling and reflecting on deep conversations posed by our community.
We were also blessed with the experience of hand washing our own laundry in the springs. It was both a really enjoyable time but also made us appreciate the gift of machine washers that are so often taken for granted.

(Above: Handwashing laundry in the spring....also means hanging to dry!)
As part of our sabbath, some of us took a hike with our host Nilton, who shared part of Huancayo's history as well as part of his life. To finish the day and to thank our hosts, we prepared a dinner of common 'American' dishes (Kraft Mac&Cheese, hot dogs, and apple pie) followed by a worship night led by the students.

(Making apple pie.)

(Crafting crosses all cultural barriers)
We appreciate all your support during this process and invite you to continue praying for us as some of us are still accilmating to the high altitude.
Thanks,
Ian and Asaad (Allegheny)
From Ian to his family: I haven't done any backflips. :)
From Assad: There are a ton of new recipes I need to try when I get back!

(Modeling some of the market purchases.)

(Having your hair done by some local hair dressers...) :)
