Saturday and the market

Saturday and the market

Hello all.
We started off our morning with morning prayer and devotions.  A good word that we began our morning with came from Psalm 27:1.  This verse shares, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"  This verse reassures us that even as we enter new and possibly uncomfortable opportunities, we have the Lords strength with us and do not need to fear.
We then went to an open market in Chupaca where we were able to learn more about the Peruvian culture and buy traditional items like alpaca wool sweaters, ponchos, fresh fruit, and coin wallets.  It was eye opening for us to see what a daily experience of shopping looks like for someone living in this region where there are few tourists.

We then had lunch at our friend Tino's home, the person who began the ministry relationship with the CCO in Peru.  We were able to enjoy a meal together with Tino and his family, and learn about his life and his testimony of faith in Jesus.  Tino was the founder of the school we have been serving with over the past few days.  Tino also shared his experience of being diagnosed with cancer and how he has learned to find joy in suffering.  It was deeply moving for us to hear Tino share about how he has continued to trust in God and seek Him through his diagnosis.  We finished our time with Tino by taking photos with him and his family to remember our time together.

We then went shopping for groceries with Elizabeth and Nilton and bought some traditional Peruvian snacks.  We ended our night with another dance class provided by Elizabeth's friend Walter and then had our evening devotional.
Our friend Morgan was able to share some of her own story of faith and what the Lord has been teaching her in this season of life.
We are excited to write to you all again soon!
In Christ,
