Our offerings
CCO XD offers a number of professional development opportunities to increase individual competency for those in the fields of experiential education, outdoor education, and/or group and leadership development.
Core Communication
An intrapersonal communication program, Core Communication teaches six talking skills and five listening skills that aid in the resolution of conflict, decision-making, and effective negotiation. Core Communication is offered as an open enrollment course for individuals or can be taught for an entire group or organization.
Working With Groups
An essential seminar for anyone who facilitates a group, Working With Groups uses the integration of theory and practice to teach how to read, understand, evaluate, and effectively lead small groups.
Medical Certification
We have staff members certified to offer courses in CPR, Wilderness First Aid, and Wilderness First Responder (in partnership with SOLO). Individuals can join in periodic courses offered for our own staff or these courses can be taught to an entire group or organization.
Outdoor Leadership
CCO XD is an authorized organization with the Wilderness Education Association (WEA) with the ability to offer both Outdoor Enthusiast seminars and Outdoor Leader certificates. We also partner regularly to offer courses in conjunction with Leave No Trace (LNT), the American Canoe Association (ACA), and the Professional Climbing Instructors’ Assocation (PCIA).
Design & Integration
For those interested in learning about and working from our unique framework for experiential education, at the heart of which lies the confession that “all things belong to God,” we offer courses in varying lengths that explore the Biblical, philosophical, and educational theories behind our work. Design & Integration courses offer an opportunity to learn theory while exploring and experimenting with designing activities and testing these designs in the midst of the course. Participants will leave the course with a deepened understanding of experiential education as well as a set of tools and designs that can be applied to various ministry experiences.
