The best thing was the community.

The best thing about my Fellows year was the community that I got to be a part of. And the fact that I was going to have an experienced staff person walk beside me during my first year of ministry was key. The community and my mentor and his family made a big difference in my life.

The staff involved with the CCO Fellows Program really cared about my well-being. A lot of thought and prayer is involved in the hiring and placement process. The team does a great job of making sure each candidate has a good placement.

Finally, we all went on a trip together at the end of the year, where we were given space to think and contemplate our future and build community with the people around us. I still talk to some of these Fellows on a weekly basis.  We encourage each other and genuinely care for one another. I don’t know where I would be without them.

If you are even somewhat interested in the program, do it.  The CCO Fellows Program gave me the tools and support to go into my first year of ministry with confidence.  You will be stretched and you will learn, and even if at the end you decide the CCO is not for you, the experience will still be worth it.
