FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does CCO stand for?
CCO stands for Coalition for Christian Outreach.
What is it like to work on a college campus?

Meeting students where they are is key to a thriving ministry on campus. When Jesus called his disciples, he used a simple model that we employ on campus today: gather, equip, and send. We develop young women and men who live out their faith in every area of life through intentional evangelism, outreach, and Biblical discipleship. You will find ministry on campus exciting, entrepreneurial, challenging, and rewarding.

We are committed to walking alongside you as you begin ministry on campus. You will have a supervisor who will be your primary resource, as well as a cohort of other new staff who share in the same experiences.

What if I have college loans?
Our salaries are comparable to what you would receive in the nonprofit job market. Many of our staff members have college loans, which they are able to pay off as long as they are diligent in raising their full support.
I don’t have a Bible degree. Can I still get a job on campus?
Yes! We do not require any formal Biblical training to work for the CCO. One of our commitments in training our staff is to continually build deeper and more robust Biblical knowledge through staff seminars and seminary courses. We do expect that all staff members have a solid theological foundation and a desire to continually grow in knowledge of God’s Word. If you are curious about what we stand for, take a look at our Statement of Faith.
Why work with the CCO?
If you have a heart for sharing the Gospel, serving in the local church, and inviting students into a vision for serving Jesus with their entire lives — ministry with the CCO could be a great fit for you! College ministry is a vital mission field, and we invite you to be part of it. Our model of partnership, contextual ministry, and training flows out of our commitment and desire to see Jesus Christ transform college students to transform the world.
What kinds of positions do you offer?

The CCO has four main types of positions: Campus Ministry Staff, CCO Fellowship, Support/Operational Staff, and Campus Ministry Associate.

  • Campus Ministry Staff — this is a full-time campus position that works in partnership with a local church or community board. Support raising is required. (For seminary graduates or those with significant ministry/life experience.)
  • CCO Fellow — this is a one-year position with Biblical and ministry training and intentional opportunities for growth and ministry experience. Support raising is required. (For all recent college graduates.)
  • CCO Support or Leadership Staff — these are positions that support the hands-on campus ministry of the organization. From Staff Services, Talent Acquisition & Mobilization, and Marketing & Communications to Finance, Support Raising, and Events, these positions help make campus ministry happen. Depending on the position, support raising may be required. (For those who want to offer behind-the-scenes support for the work done by on-campus staff.)
  • CCO Associate — this is a volunteer campus position. Support raising is optional. (For those who want to invest significant time on campus but have other full-time or part-time employment.)

One of our primary tenets is that a campus ministry should work hand-in-hand with the local church, so we partner with churches and community boards to invite students into the lives of local congregations.

What denominations do you work with?
We are an interdenominational ministry working with many different kinds of churches, and we are always open to working with more.
Can I make a living working for the CCO?

Yes. We offer a competitive ministry non profit salary and a salary range based on level of education, ministry experience, and financial need.

We also provide full medical benefits, vision, dental, and a life insurance policy.
